Big Divi Terms & Conditions

  1. Subscribers must be aged 18 or over.
  2. The Big Divi magazine is published and made available online (or by post, see term 6) to each subscriber on a weekly basis (except for the Christmas period).
  3. A subscription will normally commence within 7 days from the date the application is received.
  4. No responsibility is accepted for any errors or omissions.
  5. Betting advice is primarily designed to enhance entertainment. No reliance should be placed on any result forecasting.
  6. The current price of each Big Divi online weekly magazine is £2.00 (discounts are offered where the subscription is taken out for a period of eight or more weeks). Subscribers can select to have a copy of the magazine posted to them for an additional fee of £1 per week.
  7. The combined syndicate contribution is currently set at £3.00 per week per subscriber
  8. Once the subscription period has ended, there is no obligation whatsoever to continue.
  9. As well as servicing the syndicates, from time to time the Big Divi magazine will include reports and results from some of the UK's 'big dividend' betting and pool games.
  10. The company will try to win prize money which in turn will be shared equally amongst all Big Divi subscribers. The reason for taking part should be as an entertainment, as opposed to an investment.
  11. No commission is deducted from any of the syndicate's winnings. The company's income is primarily derived from production of the magazine.
  12. Where the syndicate contributions are not fully spent in any particular week, the unspent funds may very occasionally be added to a 'Rollover Pot', which will normally be spent on a Scoop6 bet in a future week at the company's discretion (usually when a large jackpot is available) or used to target any large prize fund. Any prize money won, using 'Rollover Pot' funds, will only be distributed to anyone who is a registered subscriber for the relevant week that the bet was placed. Unspent funds or Rollover Pot funds can be transferred to Subscribers' accounts (treated as 'winnings') when deemed reasonable by the company.
  13. All winnings (and any unspent funds that have not been added to a 'Rollover Pot' in any given week) distributed to subscribers are automatically lodged in each subscriber's individual Big Divi account. Subscribers can then manage their own accounts. Sums can be withdrawn at any time or can be used in whole or part, towards another subscription period.
  14. When a subscriber requests a cheque payment/withdrawal from Big Divi, a small sum (currently set at £2 per transaction) is deducted from the subscriber's account, to cover bank charges, administration and postage.
  15. In the event of a non-monetary prize being won by the syndicate, that prize or any element of that prize will be converted into a monetary sum, if possible, by the Big Divi organisers, in order to share it out equally amongst Subscribers. If any element of a prize cannot be converted to a monetary sum within a reasonable time, that element of the prize will be awarded to one Subscriber via a random draw or ballot. Examples of non-monetary prizes include luxury experiences, entertainment events, holidays and tangible items.
  16. Big Divi combines the supply of a weekly magazine (online or posted) plus syndicate entries. Neither can be purchased separately.
  17. The Tote Scoop6 entry (number of selections per race) will vary on any particular week.
  18. Where the syndicate qualifies for the Tote Scoop6 Bonus Race, subscribers will be notified of the syndicate's selection for that race at the same time as the following week's normal Scoop6 entry is declared. If our Bonus Race selection is a non-runner, our selection will switch to the starting price favourite. In accordance with the Tote terms (correct at the time of writing), where there is a joint favourite, the selection becomes the horse with the lowest racecard number. In all circumstances, only the Big Divi subscribers who were part of the syndicate when the six-race Win Fund was won, will share any winnings from the Bonus Race. For the sake of clarity, it is not possible for a new Big Divi subscriber to share the Bonus Fund prize money if that subscriber joined after the syndicate qualified for the Bonus Fund race.
  19. Participation in the syndicates is for personal enjoyment and cannot be used for any commercial purpose. Strictly only one subscription allowed per person.
  20. No refunds are given. However, a written request may be accepted to transfer the subscription to another person.
  21. Game promoters (Tote, Betfred, Betfair etc.) may change their rules from time to time, and in such instances, no liability or responsibility can be accepted by Big Divi if this should affect the operation of any of the syndicates.
  22. By submitting a subscription application, subscribers authorise the Big Divi management to make the selections for the syndicate's entries, including, but not limited to, Scoop6, Placepot and Lucky 15 entries on their behalf. Normally, the syndicate's lines of entry selections shall be made available prior to the games/draws/races, whenever possible.
  23. Due to postal and other restrictions, subscriptions are only accepted from UK residents.
  24. Payments (sterling) are accepted by debit card, cheque or postal order (made payable to "Big Divi").
  25. Copyright of all published material is the property of Big Divi. Material submitted by subscribers (e.g. letters to the editor, or photos etc.) must be their own work and the full copyright shall pass to Big Divi.
  26. Whilst these terms and conditions are comprehensive, and we believe, compliant with fair trading practices prescribed by Consumer Protection Legislation, if you dispute any element of our service, your recourse is to write in the first instance, detailing the nature of your complaint and we will attempt to resolve the issue.   27. The right to change these terms and conditions, from time to time, is reserved and all reasonable steps will be taken to advise subscribers of such changes in advance.

Hypobetical: How it works

Hypobetical is a weekly game, automatically played by all Big Divi subscribers. The funds for this game are given by Big Divi, no contribution is taken from the syndicate funds. Four horse races are specified each week. All players are given a randomly-allocated entry, with each subscriber allocated a particular horse and stake.

The game is played using fictional bets and fictional returns, but REAL prize money is awarded to the winners.

  1. We allocate four races each week.
  2. Every player is allocated a horse in each race (listed by their 'Race card no.') along with a randomly-allocated fictional 'stake amount' for a win-only bet.
  3. At the end of the four races, the winning players are those with the top five highest total fictional bet returns.
  4. The prize fund is divided as follows: 1st = 50%, 2nd = 25%, 3rd = 12.5%, 4th = 7.5%, 5th = 5%. Where there are multiple winners in any of the prize categories, that prize is shared equally amongst the winners in that particular category.
  5. The results will be confirmed within 48 hours of the final race taking place (except Bank Holidays). Prizes are automatically added to a winner's Big Divi account (no claim is required).

Hypobetical terms/rules

  1. In the event of a dead-heat for the winning horse in a race, neither the odds nor the stake is divided and all horses involved are treated as winners. If only one horse is declared to run, i.e. the race becomes a 'walkover', the race shall be rendered void (or abandoned) for the purposes of the Hypobetical game and shall not count towards the game's results.
  2. In the unlikely event of a software or systems failure, no responsibility or compensation will be offered. The judges' decision shall be final in all cases.
  3. It is vital that you look for the "Race Details", rather than the race time. We list a scheduled start time (correct at time of printing), but racecourses do sometimes change the schedule. Race times are listed as a guide only.
  4. If a race is split into two divisions, division one will be treated as the selected race, irrespective of the race time.
  5. Non-runners count as losers.
  6. If up to two of the races are cancelled/voided, Hypobetical will go ahead with the remaining races. If three or four of the races are cancelled/voided, the Hypobetical game will NOT go ahead.
  7. To play Hypobetical, you simply need to be a current Big Divi subscriber for the applicable week. Alternatively, post your full name, address and date of birth to Hypobetical, PO Box 100, Devizes, SN10 4TE to be entered into ONE Hypobetical game. Only one postal application will be accepted per envelope. Postal entries must be made using a stamped envelope (any entries made using a freepost envelope will be rejected). Each postal entry received will be entered in the next available game.

Tote Scoop6 rules

Aim of the bet

(i) To select the winning horse in each of 6 specific races nominated by Tote in order to qualify for a dividend from the Tote Scoop6 win fund.

(ii) To select a horse to be placed in each of the same 6 races in order to qualify for a dividend from the Tote Scoop6 place fund.

(iii) Winners of the Tote Scoop6 win fund who have correctly selected the winning horse in all 6 legs of the Tote Scoop6, to select the winner of the bonus race on a later day nominated by Tote in order to qualify for a dividend from the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund. With regard to the totescoop6 place fund, the finishing positions which constitute a place in any leg, unless otherwise stated, are as follows:

  • 2 - 4 runners 1st
  • 5 - 7 runners 1st & 2nd
  • 8 - 15 runners 1st, 2nd & 3rd
  • Non-handicap of 16 or more runners 1st, 2nd & 3rd
  • Handicap of 16 or more runners 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th

Races on which pool is operated

There are generally two separate ‘sequences’ of Scoop6 pools operating:

(i) The main Tote Scoop6 operates every Saturday and occasionally on other selected days as indicated in the national and sporting press.

(ii) The ‘Friday Scoop6’ operates most Friday evenings during the winter season.

Any funds carried forward are rolled over to the next Tote Scoop6 pool within the same respective Tote Scoop6 sequence. This is usually 7 days later unless indicated otherwise in the national and sporting press.

Placing bet

Minimum unit stake = £2, Minimum total stake = £2. Permutation bets in units of £2 are accepted.

Bet Stakes

GBP

Minimum unit stake = £2, Minimum total stake = £2. Permutation bets in units of £2 are accepted.

The core Scoop6 unit is based on this 2GBP stake ("core unit").

Other currencies

Other currencies can be used to play the Scoop6, but all the dividends are calculated based on the total value of the pools divided by the total value of successful units where each core unit has a value of 2GBP. Currency conversions will result in partial unit values in this calculation.

Euros

Minimum unit stake = €2. Minimum total stake = €2. Permutation bets in units of €2 are accepted.

Example: Euro:GBP exchange rate = 1.25:1. One €2.00 Scoop6 ticket = 0.8 core units

Pool deduction rate

30% (The net pool is therefore 70% of the gross pool)

Calculation of dividends

The Tote Scoop6 pool will be allocated to four different funds: Tote Scoop6 win fund, Tote Scoop6 place fund, Tote Scoop6 bonus fund, and Tote Scoop6 starting fund, in the ratio 14 : 7 : 5 : 2 respectively.

The Tote Scoop6 win fund, Tote Scoop6 place fund, and the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund are prize funds. The Tote Scoop6 starting fund is held in reserve to be added to the Tote Scoop6 win fund at a later time. A more detailed explanation of how the Tote Scoop6 starting fund operates can be found below.

The total of the money invested plus any money brought forward into any fund will form the gross fund, unless one or more legs are abandoned or declared void (see rule below).

If any fund is guaranteed to a particular amount, then this amount shall form the fund unless the total of the money invested plus any money brought forward in that fund is greater than the guarantee.

Each net prize fund is divided by the total winning units in that fund to obtain a calculated dividend. All non GBP entries are converted into core units based on the prevailing exchange rate at the commencement of the pool as denoted versus the GBP ticket price.

The calculated dividend is rounded down to the next 10 pence to obtain the payable dividend declared to the stake unit. In any event, the minimum totescoop6 dividend will be 1.10.

Only one dividend is declared for each prize fund.

If there is no outright winner of the Tote Scoop6 win fund or the Tote Scoop6 place fund, the respective portion of the gross pool will be rolled over to the next Tote Scoop6 win fund within that same sequence of Tote Scoop6 pools. Note that any guarantee is disregarded for the purposes of carry-forwards.

Favourite investment

Bets on the un-named favourite are accepted and are represented by the starting price favourite. (See rule on non-runners below.)

Non-runners

Bets 'stand' on horses which do not compete after coming under starter's orders.

Non-runner selections are not void but are replaced by the starting price favourite.

When there are joint or co-favourites, the horse with the lowest racecard number will be taken. Should the favourite be withdrawn before coming under starter’s orders but too late for the SP market to be re-formed, the horse with the shortest returned starting price will be used, but should there be two or more runners at the shortest starting price, the one with the lowest racecard number will be taken. If there are no starting prices returned, the first runner quoted in the Racing Post betting forecast will be substituted. If there is no betting forecast and hence no substitute horse can be determined in accordance with any specific rules then the runner with the highest number of totewin pool units in the relevant race will be substituted. If two or more runners have an equal number of totewin pool units then the one with the lowest racecard number will substitute. If no totewin pool is operated then the lowest racecard number will substitute.

For Scoop6 pools hosted by the Tote comprising of International races, please refer to the table below for the different selection criteria of the substitute for a non-runner.

Walkovers/Void/Abandoned Races/Meetings

If any leg of the Tote Scoop6 is a walkover, or is void, or is abandoned, or there is no official result declared for any reason, and is not re-ran on the same day, then the Tote Scoop6 win fund and the Tote Scoop6 place fund will be settled on the remaining legs, i.e. every selection in that leg is deemed to have been successful in both the Tote Scoop6 win fund and the Tote Scoop6 place fund, provided at least one leg of the bet takes place.

If the Tote Scoop6 bonus race is void, or is abandoned, or there is no result declared for any reason, and is not re-run on the same day, then all registered qualifiers will be entitled to make a selection in an alternative bonus race to be nominated by Tote.

If the Tote Scoop6 bonus race is reduced to a walkover, then the race is considered to have taken place for the purposes of all funds of the Tote Scoop6, and all tickets in the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund will be deemed to have been successful.

If none of the legs of the totescoop6 take place, the pool will be declared void and all stakes refunded.

Provided at least one leg takes place, a dividend will be declared for the totescoop6 win fund and the totescoop6 place fund, in accordance with these rules.

If one or more legs are abandoned or declared void, whether before or after the first leg has begun, the funds will solely be comprised of money invested on that day’s Tote Scoop6 pool. Any stakes brought forward in rollovers from the previous week in the Tote Scoop6 win fund or Tote Scoop6 place fund, or any stakes brought forward from the Tote Scoop6 starting fund into the Tote Scoop6 win fund, will roll directly into the respective funds in the following week’s Tote Scoop6. In addition, winners of the Tote Scoop6 win fund will not be eligible to go for the bonus fund. The day's stakes which would otherwise have been allocated to the bonus fund will be re-distributed between the Tote Scoop6 win fund and the Tote Scoop6 place fund in the appropriate ratio shown above. This excludes stakes brought forward in rollovers from the previous Tote Scoop6 bonus fund within the sequence, which will rollover directly to the next Tote Scoop6 bonus fund within the sequence.

Multiple selections, bankers and permutations

Permutations are permitted. To calculate the number of permutations, customers should multiply together the number of selections in each leg.

Insufficient finishers

If in any leg the official number of finishers is fewer than the number of standard places, only the runners which finish will be deemed to have been placed for the purposes of the Tote Scoop6 place fund.

If in any leg the official result is there are no finishers, the win fund and place fund will be settled on the remaining legs, i.e. every selection in that leg is deemed to have been successful.

If in the bonus race the official result is that there are no finishers, all registered qualifiers will be entitled to make a selection in an alternative bonus race to be nominated by Tote.

Dead-heats

With regard to the Tote Scoop6 win fund, in the event of a dead-heat for first place in any leg of the bet, all such dead-heating horses are considered to be full winners in that race.

With regard to the Tote Scoop6 place fund, in the event of a dead-heat for any position which constitutes a place in any leg of the bet, all such deadheating horses are considered to be fully-placed in that race.

With regard to the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund, in the event of a dead-heat for first place, the bonus fund will be divided into as many equal parts as there are dead-heating runners. The part of the fund allocated to each dead-heating horse is divided by the total number of tickets on that runner to obtain a calculated dividend for each dead-heating horse. If a dead-heating horse is not covered by any tickets, then the proportion of the bonus fund allocated to that dead-heating horse will be carried forward.

Tote Scoop6 starting fund

In any Tote Scoop6 pool, 5% of the amount invested will be allocated to the Tote Scoop6 starting fund. These funds will be held in reserve until after the Tote Scoop6 win fund is next won. At this point, the entire amount held in the Tote Scoop6 starting fund will be carried forward to the next Tote Scoop6 win fund within the sequence in order to boost the size of that fund.

Tote Scoop6 bonus fund

Tote Scoop6 win fund winners who have correctly selected each of the winners of the six Tote Scoop6 legs will qualify to register to compete in the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund. Claimants must call the Tote Scoop6 bonus race hotline (or such other number as announced by Tote in the national and sporting press) with their winning receipt, to register as bonus race qualifiers. Claimants should also state if they have more than one winning line as they will be entitled to one entry per winning line. Claimants may register on any day prior to the bonus race, but the deadline for registration is 1 hour before the publicised ‘off-time’ of the nominated bonus race. Failure to register will mean the claimant will not be eligible to compete for the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund.

The nominated bonus race will be announced the day before the bonus race is scheduled to take place. Registered qualifiers must call the bonus race hotline on the day of the bonus race anytime from 9am up to one hour before the bonus race publicised 'off-time'. It is the registered qualifier’s responsibility to register their selection (or selections if they have more than one winning line). Should no selection be received within one hour of the publicised 'off-time' of the bonus race, registered qualifiers will be allocated the starting price favourite in accordance with these rules.

Claimants may register as a bonus race qualifier and state their selection(s) in the bonus race at the same time provided this is done no later than 1 hour before the bonus race publicised ‘off-time’.

Tote may contact qualifiers for the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund to request their participation in media publicity, although agreement to participate is entirely at the customer's discretion.

Tote Scoop6 win fund winners will only qualify for a chance to win the Tote Scoop6 bonus if all six legs of the Tote Scoop6 have taken place. For the purposes of this rule, walkovers are considered to have taken place; any race which is ran but subsequently voided is considered not to have taken place.

If there are no qualifiers for the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund, the fund will be rolled over to the next bonus race within the sequence as decided by Tote.

If no one selects the winner of the bonus race, the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund will be rolled over to the next bonus race within the sequence as decided by Tote.

In the event of the nominated bonus race being void or abandoned and not re-ran on the same day, Tote reserves the right to nominate any future race on any day as the bonus race. All registered qualifiers will be entitled to make a new selection.

Should a bonus race selection be a non-runner, registered qualifiers will have the option to make a new selection on condition that no new selection can be made within 30 minutes of the publicised 'off-time' of the bonus race. Should no new selections be received or should a selection become a non-runner within 30 minutes of the publicised 'off-time' of the bonus race, registered qualifiers nominating the non-runner will be allocated the starting price favourite in accordance with these rules.

Payment will be made on the official result on the day, once the weighed-in has been announced.

The Bonus fund dividend will be decided by dividing the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund, by the total value of successful core units.

Example - If one £2.00 ticket and one €2.00 ticket are successful where the exchange rate EUR:GBP = 1.25:1 and the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund is 180,000GBP:

  • £2.00 = 1 core unit €2.00 = 0.8 core unit Total = 1.8 core unit Dividend calculation = 180,000 / 1.8 = 100,000
  • £2.00 ticket holder receives £100,000 €2.00 ticket holder receives €100,000

Partial rollovers when won by less than 1.00 core unit

If less than one full core unit is successful in any Scoop6 pool, the dividend will be declared as the same value as if one whole core unit was successful with the un-won remainder of the bonus fund carried forward to the relevant fund in the next Tote Scoop6 sequence.

Example

  • If just one €2.00 ticket were successful and the exchange rate EUR:GBP = 1.25:1, the dividend would be declared as though a full core unit had won.
  • If the Tote Scoop6 bonus fund was 180,000GBP
    Dividend calculation = 180,000 / 1 = 180,000>
    €2.00 ticket holder receives €180,000
    €180,000 = £144,000
    £36,000 partial rollover is carried forward to the corresponding pool in the next Tote Scoop6 sequence.

Guarantees

Where Tote offers a guarantee in the Tote Scoop6 win fund, then such guarantee shall not apply where one or more of the 6 legs are abandoned, void, or no result is returned for any reason, and is not re-ran on the same day.

Where the Tote Scoop6 win fund is guaranteed, Tote reserves the right at its reasonable discretion to withdraw such a guarantee should any technical circumstances arise beyond Tote’s control which materially affect the total amount invested into the pool.

Where the Tote Scoop6 win fund is guaranteed, Tote reserves the right to withdraw such a guarantee where any leg falls below 6 runners.
